Spotlight EAP: Introducing Kayrros

SatVu is launching the world’s first constellation of high-resolution thermal infrared imaging satellites. This constellation delivers a first-to-market, space-based solution to enable governments and commercial organisations to tackle the environmental impact of modern life through the use of high-resolution thermal data.

Ahead of the launch, 66 organisations have committed to harnessing the unique power of infrared imagery by signing up to our Early Access Programme.

As early adopters, these organisations enjoy preferred access to our high-resolution thermal satellite imagery and the opportunity to secure valuable capacity on the inaugural satellite.

Our Spotlight EAP Partners series will showcase these businesses and the innovative products and services they offer.

In this edition we learn about Kayrros, a Paris-based, global energy and environmental geoanalytics company, founded in 2016.

Introducing Kayrros

A world leader in environmental intelligence and asset observation technology, Kayrros has built the most comprehensive database of environmental metrics for the energy industry, covering over 3 million assets globally.

Trusted by the largest market players to provide accurate, critical insights on reducing greenhouse gases, protecting people and the environment, and managing the energy transition, Kayrros combines a firm commitment to environmental sustainability with AI and geoanalytical data science.

All Kayrros products are based uniquely on measured data from more than 20 satellite constellations and multiple ground-truth sensors. Consistently providing highly accurate insights in close to realtime, Kayrros is acknowledged as an environmental intelligence provider by both the UNEP and The World Bank, due to their cutting-edge mathematical approach that is validated through extensive scientific collaboration.

Joining SatVu’s EAP

Since joining SatVu’s early access programme, Kayrros has leveraged the archive data to test and validate use cases. They plan to use the thermal data gathered to help track the performance of energy assets across the world and to better understand energy usage, supply and demand dynamics, and environmental impact.

Long term, Kayrros intends to expand their use of thermal satellite data. Describing the new satellite as “an important addition to the Earth Observation market,” they see it becoming a core data source they can leverage to create value for their customers.

Climate Talk

The team at Kayrros understand that climate data plays a critical role in quantifying the environmental impact of human activities and developing evidence-based strategies to minimise the effects of anthropogenic climate change. The high-resolution thermal data provided by SatVu opens the door to brand new use cases that will allow Kayrros to better carry out their mission.

“This data is also vital for businesses and governments seeking to reduce their carbon footprint. This is important not only for companies seeking to meet their regulatory obligations and global net-zero goals, but also for investors and other stakeholders who are increasingly focused on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors when making investment decisions.” Oliver Zhu, VP Data & Platform, Kayrros.
