Building-Level Thermal Intelligence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

24/7 intelligence from orbit

Our HotSat constellation delivers thermal imagery at 3.5-meter resolution - the highest fidelity commercially available thermal data from space - using mid-wave infrared (MWIR) sensors capable of resolving heat signatures at the individual asset and building level. This precision enables the detection of activity, anomalies, and emissions that broader resolution thermal data simply cannot reveal. It is also available both day and night to support around-the-clock monitoring of assets and environments.

The complete operational picture

The same blind spot occurs across defense, economic, and climate decisions: whilst existing Electro-Optical (EO) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) constellations can confirm that an asset exists and that its structure has not changed, it cannot confirm its operational status, intensity, or whether its behaviour has shifted.

Our thermal intelligence works where EO and SAR cannot because it captures operational signals generated by the facility: heat from furnaces, turbines, cooling systems, and processing equipment. Activity can be inferred even when every visible indicator is neutral. Once operational tempo is established, analysts can monitor the heartbeat of an asset, detect anomalies, diagnose the cause, and act before public signals emerge.

  • Urban Heat Mapping: Identify heat concentration zones at building and street level to support smarter urban planning, and climate resilience initiatives. Distinguish individual structures, green spaces, and infrastructure to determine how effectively urban heat mitigation efforts are working.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Analyse temperature-driven environmental changes, support sustainability reporting, and independently verify emissions and heat discharge claims across industrial and natural environments. Assess thermal dynamics in rivers, lakes, and coastal zones as indicators of pollution and surface-temperature shifts.
  • Maritime Monitoring: Detect and track vessel heat signatures in maritime environments - including vessels that have disabled or are not transmitting AIS signals - enhancing situational awareness across Saudi coastal waters and strategic maritime zones. Independently confirm whether vessels are on or off, day or night - even even in denied or contested environments.

HotSat-2 is delivering commercial imagery today; the constellation is scaling toward 10–20 revisits per day, and the data is analysis-ready via the NSG UP42’s unified data platform.
